NEW YORK - The National Football League and Verizon Communications have agreed to deliver live NFL Network sports and entertainment programming via Verizon’s consumer broadband services, beginning Dec. 7 with the matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns. Verizon already offers the NFL Network television channel to subscribers of its FiOS TV Service and is the only Internet service provider to deliver selected NFL Network programming over broadband.

Verizon FiOS TV, High-Speed Internet Now Available to an Additional 8,600 Households in Hillsborough County; Company’s Video Franchises Cover 3 Million Households in Nine States

TAMPA, Fla. — Verizon today expanded the availability of its FiOS TV service to more than 8,600 households in FishHawk Ranch and some surrounding areas of eastern Hillsborough County, offering amazingly sharp pictures and sound and a true choice for subscription television and on-demand programming, via the company’s all-digital, fiber-optic network. Verizon is the only company to offer such a communications network all the way to customers in homes and offices across the country.

Verizon first began offering its fiber-optic TV services to over 30,000 households in Hillsborough County earlier this year. This number has steadily grown throughout 2006, with today’s activation increasing to more than 116,000 the total number of households eligible to receive FiOS TV service in Hillsborough County.

Survey Reveals Why Verizon Is the Preferred Brand

PITTSBURGH – By roughly 4-to-1 margins, Pittsburgh residents say Verizon beats Comcast in terms of value, reliability and service quality, according to a recent survey conducted for Verizon by Public Opinion Strategies. And, consumers shopping for a bundle of voice, Internet and video services today would be more than twice as likely to pick Verizon, the survey said.

Comcast’s biggest liability? It raises prices too often, a flaw mentioned by 43 percent of survey subjects, followed by citations that Comcast is unresponsive to customer service issues and customers’ experiences of poor service.

New Feature Is the Latest Innovation From FiOS TV

NEW YORK – Digital video recorders (DVRs), which record TV programs to a hard drive, are transforming the way people watch television. Now, Verizon is transforming the DVR as the company introduces Home Media DVR to Verizon FiOS TV customers this week.

Home Media DVR features a multi-room DVR that enables up to three simultaneous viewings of programs recorded by the device without requiring customers to set up a complex home network or buy extra equipment. The recorder is bundled with Media Manager, a new feature that lets customers easily access photos and music from their personal computer and play them on their entertainment center where they look and sound the best. Both functions are made possible by software and technology already built into the FiOS platform on Verizon’s fiber-to-the-premises network.
