This is our second set in less than a year...first set just quit working...not sure why...so will try this new set to see what happens.
When working these have been great for my boyfriend that has hearing problems to be able to hear what is being said on the TV. After researching the available options, I chose these because they looked like they would be the most comfortable for the best price.
They worked extremely well with her analog tv, but recently the original tv broke and we replaced it with a flat screen lcd. Because there is no audio output in lcd sets, I needed to attach the microphone adaptor that had been provided. It took quite a bit of "fiddling" to connect it and get the volume adjusted. It is not a perfect solution, because the speakers need to remain on (although at a low volume), but once set up, it seems to work to her satisfaction.
The only complaint I have is that it seems to run through batteries very quickly.

They are infrared so very immune to outside interference as long as you have line-of-sight to the transmitter. Very comfortable and sound quality is excellent for TV. I use 'em for football so that my wife can share the same comfy room without having to listen to the racket. However, I was not impressed with the price as you can buy the whole set for less than $10 more. We just didn't need the whole set.
