The HKTS 18 home theater speaker system combines identically voiced, magnetically shielded two-way satellite and center channel speakers with a 10-inch, 200-watt subwoofer for high-performance sound that complements the design of Harman Kardon receivers and DVD players, as well as today's flat-panel video displays. Advanced features include a line-level Sub/LFE input, audio-sense or external-trigger on/off and a multicolor LED power indicator. Wall-mount brackets for the satellites are included. The speaker cables and speakers are all color-coded to conform to the CEA (Consumer Electronics Association) standard, simplifying setup. Comment: Just another 5 star review like you needed any more convincing. These speakers sound absolutely fantastic and look really good too. The subwoofer was bigger than I expected (based upon the photos) so check those dimensions. I wall mounted the speakers in the four corners of a 20' x 16' room and while the brackets are without doubt of poor design, they are sturdy and allow easy horizontal positioning once mounted. I ended up drilling a hole in the top of the speaker mount so that I could cleanly (and invisibly) run the wire from the crown molding down behind and into the speaker through the mount.

Summary: blew my receiver 2x's!!!!!
Comment: Bought this speaker set as it seemed like a great value and surely beat the deals at my local retailers, the smaller dimensions of the speakers fit in the space I am using it in, and I had a great perception of the HK Brand Name! Overall, the system sounds 'OK'...HOWEVER!!!!!... After about a few weeks, my receiver quit powering the sub!...gave me a new receiver under warranty. A few weeks after using the new receiver...same issue as before...gave me a new receiver under warranty. My local retailer that I bought the receiver from testing both the receiver and sub this time (as they were covering the receiver under warranty)...only to find that the HK Sub was the culprit the whole time. Luckily, the local retailer I bought my receiver from is also the local HK warranty provider!!
I'm not a huge sound buff, but i have noticed that the satellite speakers can't really push out any bass if I crank it up...sounds like it's way overpowered.
If you're looking for a middle of the road system to have a better movie experience or for an OK music experience, this system is good (if your sub doesn't blow out the receiver twice!!). If you're looking for a top notch speaker system....LOOK FOR SOMETHING BETTER THAN THIS SYSTEM!!! Oh yeah, and now the sub has some sorta popping noise when changing scenes in movies, etc... consider putting out a few more bucks for a different system 8-)

Comment: I do alot of searching for reviews before buying a product, and this product has alot of great reviews. So I purchased it, and I was not disapointed. Thundering BASS!, Crisp highs, You wont be sorry you bought this product. Brings movies and regular television to a new high.

Summary: Great sound, speaker stands problematic
Comment: The speakers have great sound. The instructions are clear and simple. Wall mounting the speakers may work but I did not want that. The speaker stand mounts are proprietary so if you're planning to go that way you'll probably have to buy the Harmon Kardon stands and pay the stiff price. I understood that going in, but the problem was dealing w Harmon Kardon. I could not find the black stands thru any one else. What showed up had obviously been around the block a few times. They shipped silver stands in a box marked black stands. There was not parts inventory included so I have no way of knowing if the parts were all there and they were all loose so who knows. The return process is problematic and has taken weeks. They are impossible to get thru to on the phone and I could not get their web return system to work for me. Eventually email worked but weeks later I'm still waiting for the right stands.

Summary: Wonderful sound!
Comment: These speakers produce awesome sound. I was looking to setup my home theater system. Now I have these wonderful speakers with Onkyo SRS606 receiver and PS3. I was considering buying Bose speakers since my car has Bose audio system and I have always been a fan of the sound of Bose speakers. But the price of Bose speakers is extremely high. I actually decided to buy the HKTS-18 purely based on reviews here on Amazon. I was so happy after I heard these. In fact, the sound from these speakers is as or more crisp, clear and deep as compared to Bose. The subwoofer produces wonderfully deep bass. Good thing is that I can adjust the bass level on the subwoofer with an easy dial, however, I haven't found the need to change it once I have it at my comfort level. However, the subwoofer is huge. make sure you read the dimensions & plan where to keep it before purchasing. However, the subwoofer looks really good so even if it sits in view, it's not a problem.
Movies in 5.1 sound amazingly clear and lifelike. Music is wonderful as well. The speakers look great too. Thankfully I didn't go for Bose, as I've found great quality at a fraction of the cost.
